Seetha Cheeseman has had her first book published, a romantic novel is in preparation, another novel is in manuscript and a children’s book is being planned. Seetha, a nurse at the Royal Eye Infirmary, was inspired to start a writing career by the sad death of her beloved husband Jack.
Seetha was only 23 when she left Malaysia to train and work as a nurse in England. When she met Jack, 30 years her senior, it was love at first sight. “I was devastated when he died. One day, I was looking at his photo and it gave me inspiration to write about our life together.”
Once Seetha started writing, she found she could not stop – and produced a manuscript of a quarter of a million words virtually non-stop.
This is a moving document and deserves to be read by other trying to cope with the grief of losing a husband or wife. “It is my husband’s memorial and my first book!” It’s not, however, Jack’s only memorial: Seetha has been able to donate money to charities in his memory.
“Jack gave me so much happiness. I did not find it difficult to write my first book… I wanted him to know that I had done something to show people how much he meant to me. My dream now would be for my book to be turned into a film.”
